I am Deaf and both my parents are Deaf. My first language is Jamaican Sign Language (JSL). It's my honour to teach JSL to the person that are interested in learning this extraordinary, and interesting Language. It's fun to learn! So join us!

What's Jamaican Sign Language?

Jamaican Sign language is a natural Language which the Deaf Community in Jamaica to use as method of communication strategies. We use our hand to sign in the same ways how you use your mouth to speak with your intention. We sign by moving the hands along with facial expressions and postures of the body. It is communication options for the Deaf people. We,the Jamaican Deaf community recognized Jamaican Sign Language as our Official Language. It has own rules on how we do using sign in term of context such as word order, and complex grammar.

Jamaican Sign Language, an accent is apparent in how words are signed differently in various ways such as Age, Location, Influence language from other country, Gender and group of community.

Jamaica Deaf Community

There are more than seven thousand Deaf members that are live in Jamaica. We have been looking throughout the years to find a solution for both sides. Accord to the Deaf community, we discovered that the Sign Language is the answer to our access communication with the Deaf people.

It bring us happiness and joy when we are able to use sign language to communicate with the members of the Deaf Community.
